The Jewish Medical Association (UK) supports electives in Israel which aim to foster links between all UK medical schools, and medical students, with Israeli medicine.

There is a long track record of rewarding elective experience under this scheme.

All UK medical students are eligible to apply for this scholarship subject to the consent of both their parent and host institutions

Applications are invited in two cohorts. 

Cohort 1: Elective takes place September to February 

- Applications accepted from April 1st  to July 15th of that year, awards announced August 1st approx.

Cohort 2: Electives takes place March to July 

- Applications accepted from September 1st to February 14th, awards announced February 28th approx.

Applications must include an application form found here, a curriculum vitae, a covering letter explaining the nature of the elective, documentation of approval from the student’s medical school for the elective programme, and documentation from the host teaching hospital/medical school that the student has been accepted.

Application documents should be sent electronically to [email protected] clearly designated as an “Elective Application”.

After the elective has been completed:

A written report is required, which appears on the Association website. This should be sent electronically to [email protected] within three months of completion of the elective in word document format and include pictures where possible.

Students may be selected to give an oral presentation on their experiences to members of the Association.

Students are expected to maintain contact and if appropriate to become full members of the Association on graduation.
